Since 1952

Seventy years on the same hillside

We have worked the same Wicklow hillside since 1952. The tools have barely changed, and neither has our standard.

Brackenhill began when Tomás Brennan started turning local Wicklow timber into furniture for his neighbours. Today the workshop is run by his grandchildren, still cutting joints by hand. Every piece carries a small branded maker's mark and the year it was made.

    Fitted kitchens cut from solid oak, ash, and walnut, designed around how you actually cook.

    Tables, dressers, and cabinetry made to your room and meant to be handed down, not replaced.

    Hand built stairs in solid hardwood, joined to sweep cleanly through a period or new home.

    Careful repair of period and antique pieces, matching grain, joint, and finish to the original.

How we work

Design, make, install

  1. 01

    Design

    We visit, measure, and sketch. You see the timber species, the joints, and a fixed quote before a single board is cut.

  2. 02

    Make

    The piece is built on the bench in Rathdrum. Joints are cut by hand, then finished with oil that lets the grain breathe.

  3. 03

    Install

    We fit it ourselves, level and true, and brand the maker's mark with the year. Then we leave you to live with it.
